It is needed for hospital pharmacists to have expert knowledges in various fields of pharmaceutical services after BUNUP(seperation between prescription and dispensing). According to continuous changes of medical treatment and development of new medicine, they have to continue to obtain drug information. To cover this needs, pharmacy departments of many hospitals are conducting(various types of) "continuous education" program for their members. This study was performed to survey the present situation of "continuing education" in 51 hospitals and to analyze the case of Seoul National University Hospital(SNUH). For investigation of the present situation, 51 hospitals were questioned about the frequency, required time, methods, subjects, presence rate of inside and outside education based on the present number of pharmacists and the size of hospital. The case study of SNUH was also performed by classification of education program in the pharmacy department by subject, instructor and analyzing the presence rate, cause of absence. And the situation of completion of the clinical pharmacy course, training course in charge of the Korean Society of Health System Pharmacists was considerated. As a result of this study, pharmacies of many hospitals are conduction "continuing education" in various ways for pharmacists. It was noted that more active education can be conducted by the improvement of work condition and systemizing the education programs.
